GamerLegion Sign hypex; Kursy to Be Benched After FISSURE Playground 2

GamerLegion have announced that they will be bringing in Milan “hypex” Polowiec as their new AWPer, replacing Jeremy “Kursy” Gast — who will be benched following FISSURE Playground 2.

What’s Changing

hypex was bought out from Betclic, and his new role will begin in earnest starting from ESL Pro League Season 22 Stage 1, which kicks off on September 27 in Stockholm.

For now, during FISSURE Playground 2, Kursy remains active in the starting lineup — this event will be his final appearance as main AWP for GL.

After the change, the roster looks like this:

Starters: Fredrik “REZ” Sterner; Erik “ztr” Gustafsson; Sebastian “Tauson” Lindelöf; Oldřich “PR” Nový; Milan “hypex” Polowiec

Inactive/Benched: Jérémy “Kursy” Gast; Henrich “sl3nd” Hevesi

hypex’s Background & Expectations

hypex is just 21 years old, and during his time with Betclic, he put up an average rating of 1.14 over nearly a year.

His big-event performance includes PGL Bucharest 2025, where he posted a 1.08 rating in matches against high calibre teams like FURIA, Astralis, The MongolZ, Aurora, and FaZe.

Kursy’s Struggles and His Own Reflections

Kursy joined GamerLegion in early July to take over AWPer duties. However, over the past two months he’s faced criticism and underperformance.

In a previous interview, Kursy admitted he’s been having difficulty settling into the team. He said:

“I’m still not 100% comfortable now. I should make more of myself, I should give more, and I feel like I will be more comfortable soon.”
He also described mental strain:
“I feel like I’m overthinking a bit… I just need to be more comfortable to not think about it every time, and to be in the game how I should be.”

Recent Performance & Context

At FISSURE Playground 2, GamerLegion lost their opening Swiss-stage match against TYLOO.

They then bounced back in a “dead team derby” vs Liquid, winning 2–0, giving Kursy a strong showing in what is now his swansong event with the team. On Dust2, for example, he posted a high rating and strong ADR.

Implications & Looking Ahead

This move signals GamerLegion’s urgency to strengthen their sniper position. hypex represents a fresh start for the AWP role, bringing promising stats and more consistency. For Kursy, the benching will be a test of perseverance — whether he can reassert himself in practice or another setting, or whether this marks a longer-term shift.
