G2 Bid Farewell to malbsMd as Guatemalan Rifler Leaves Active CS2 Roster
G2 Esports have officially announced the departure of Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa from their Counter-Strike 2 roster, ending the player’s stint with the organization after nearly two years.
The move follows a disappointing stretch of results for the team, including consecutive group-stage eliminations at major tournaments such as PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 and ESL Pro League Season 23.
End of malbsMd’s G2 chapter
Samayoa joined G2 in June 2024 after leaving M80, marking his first move into a tier-one European lineup. He arrived as a replacement for Nemanja "nexa" Isaković and was expected to bring aggressive rifling and firepower to the squad.
During his time with G2, the Guatemalan rifler became an important component of the team’s lineup. The roster achieved several notable results across international events, including:
-
1st place — BLAST Premier World Final 2024
-
1st place — BLAST Open Fall 2025
-
2nd place — PGL Bucharest 2025
-
2nd place — Esports World Cup 2024
Individually, malbsMd also enjoyed a strong year in 2024, finishing 12th in HLTV’s Top 20 Players of the Year ranking, the highest placement of his career.
Despite those successes, the team struggled to maintain consistent results in early 2026, prompting another roster change as G2 look to rebuild and regain competitiveness at top-tier events.
Player says farewell
Following the official announcement, malbsMd posted a farewell message thanking the organization and his teammates for their time together. The 23-year-old particularly mentioned Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač, noting that he would miss playing alongside the veteran rifler.
The Guatemalan also highlighted the achievements the team secured during his tenure and hinted that news regarding his next destination would follow soon.
Possible roster shuffle with Liquid
Reports surrounding the transfer suggest that malbsMd is expected to continue his career with Team Liquid as part of a broader roster reshuffle between the two organizations. In the same set of moves, Israeli rifler Guy "NertZ" Iluz has been linked with a transfer in the opposite direction to G2.
If confirmed, the changes would represent another major step in the ongoing rebuilding process for both teams heading deeper into the 2026 CS2 competitive season.
