FUT defeat B8 to reach the 2–2 pool at ESL Pro League Season 23 Stage 2

FUT secured an important victory over B8 in Stage 2 of ESL Pro League Season 23, defeating the Ukrainian side 2–0 and advancing to the tournament’s 2–2 pool. The result keeps the Turkish organization’s playoff hopes alive while simultaneously eliminating B8 from the stage with a 1–3 record.

The match represented a decisive moment for both teams in the Swiss-format group stage, where a win was necessary to stay in contention for the final playoff spots. FUT rose to the occasion with a convincing performance across two maps, demonstrating improved coordination and strong individual play, particularly from Dmytro “dem0n” Myroshnychenko.

Strong response after earlier setbacks

FUT entered the elimination match after a mixed start to Stage 2. Earlier in the tournament, the team had suffered a defeat against 3DMAX, which pushed them into a precarious position in the Swiss bracket. That loss left the roster with a 1–2 record, meaning that another defeat would have ended their campaign.

However, FUT managed to stabilize their run and return to form in the crucial match against B8. The squad had previously shown glimpses of their potential in Stage 2, including a notable 2–1 victory against HEROIC, which provided momentum heading into the elimination round.

According to team coach Aulon “Krabeni” Fazlija, the key adjustment came from returning to a more natural and confident style of play. The team had previously adopted a more passive approach in earlier matches against opponents such as Astralis and 3DMAX, but against B8 they focused on playing their own game and avoiding uncomfortable situations.

One-sided series against B8

The best-of-three series quickly turned into a dominant display from FUT. Despite B8 initially finding some success early in the opening map, the Ukrainian lineup struggled to maintain momentum as the series progressed.

On Dust2, FUT gradually took control after a competitive start. Their defensive setups and mid-round adaptations limited B8’s options, allowing the Turkish side to close the map with authority.

The second map, Anubis, proved even more decisive. FUT’s aggressive entries and coordinated site takes overwhelmed B8, who were unable to mount a meaningful resistance. By the end of the map, FUT had secured a comfortable victory and sealed the series 2–0.

dem0n leads the charge

One of the standout performers in the match was dem0n, whose impact played a central role in FUT’s victory. His performance on Anubis produced a 2.08 rating — one of his highest individual map ratings since joining the organization.

Throughout the series, dem0n’s aggressive rifling and consistent fragging helped FUT control the pace of the game. His ability to secure opening duels and convert key rounds provided the foundation for the team’s comfortable win.

B8’s EPL run comes to an end

For B8, the defeat marked the end of their campaign in Stage 2 of ESL Pro League Season 23. The Ukrainian roster finished with a 1–3 record, placing them in the 12th–14th range of the standings for the stage.

Despite the elimination, the team showed flashes of potential earlier in the tournament. In one of the opening matches, B8 delivered a notable upset victory against FURIA, demonstrating their ability to compete with established teams in the field.

However, the team struggled to maintain consistency throughout the event. Losses to stronger opponents, including Natus Vincere, ultimately pushed them into the elimination bracket where they were unable to recover.

One win away from the playoffs

With the victory over B8, FUT move into the 2–2 pool, meaning they are now just one series away from qualifying for the EPL Season 23 playoffs. This scenario has become a familiar situation for the team in recent tournaments.

Earlier in 2026, FUT reached similar “decider” matches but failed to convert them into playoff appearances. At BLAST Bounty in January, they were eliminated by FURIA in the Round of 16, and at PGL Cluj-Napoca they fell to PARIVISION in a deciding match with a 2–2 record.

Coach Krabeni expressed hope that this time the outcome will be different. With confidence restored after the victory against B8, FUT now have another opportunity to finally break through and secure a spot in the ESL Pro League playoffs.

As the Swiss stage approaches its final rounds, the competition for the remaining playoff positions continues to intensify. For FUT, the path forward is clear: one more victory will secure their place among the final teams competing for the EPL Season 23 title.
