FURIA Clinch First Tier-One LAN Title with a 3–0 Sweep Over Vitality at IEM Chengdu 2025

At the IEM Chengdu 2025 in China, Brazilian powerhouse FURIA claimed their long-awaited breakout trophy by dominating Team Vitality in the grand final with a clean 3–0 map score.

Team momentum & context

After adding Danil “molodoy” Golubenko and Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis to their lineup earlier this year, FURIA had already begun to climb through the ranks with wins at smaller events. Yet until now, they hadn’t converted that into a title at a full-scale LAN featuring all the major contenders. The Chengdu triumph marks that milestone.

Road to the final

FURIA executed a flawless playoff run: after dispatching The MongolZ and Falcons Esports with 2–0 series wins, they entered the final with confidence.
Vitality, meanwhile, advanced to the final after their own semifinal win — though observers noted their veto strategy against FURIA prior to the final was criticised as “overcooked”.

The Grand Final

On the day of the final, FURIA did not give Vitality any foothold. The Brazilian squad claimed victories on all three maps: Ancient, Inferno and Overpass. Ratings and statistical indicators underscored the dominance of molodoy and YEKINDAR throughout the series.
Following the win, molodoy reflected on his rookie year:

“It’s good if I take Rookie of the Year, but it doesn’t matter for me because first I want to win trophies.”

Significance

This trophy changes the narrative for FURIA. No longer just a team rising or winning smaller events — they’ve reached the point of beating the top tier under pressure, and with authority. Their roster-upgraded squad appears to have matured into a serious contender at the highest level.
For Vitality, the result will sting, but reaching the final still emphasises their consistency among the top teams.
