FaZe Resurgence, FURIA Concerns, Vitality Era: Biggest Takeaways From BLAST Rivals Fort Worth

FaZe Show Signs of Recovery While Vitality Continue CS2 Dominance at BLAST Rivals Fort Worth
Vitality extended their incredible run in Counter-Strike 2 by winning BLAST Rivals Fort Worth, defeating NAVI 3-0 in the grand final and securing their fifth consecutive championship. While the French-led powerhouse once again stole the spotlight, the tournament also sparked major discussions around FaZe Clan’s resurgence and FURIA’s alarming decline.
The latest episode of HLTV Confirmed focused heavily on the current state of the top CS2 teams, with analysts breaking down Vitality’s dominance, FaZe’s encouraging playoff run, and FURIA’s ongoing struggles.
Vitality Cement Their Status as the Best CS2 Team in the World
Despite entering the event with little preparation time and visible exhaustion from a packed tournament schedule, Vitality once again proved untouchable on the biggest stage.
The grand final against NAVI nearly started disastrously. NAVI stormed to an 11-0 lead on Nuke, but Vitality completed one of the biggest comebacks of the year before closing the series on Anubis and Dust2. According to HLTV statistics, Vitality have now won 27 consecutive playoff maps and 15 straight grand final maps in 2026.
Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut earned another MVP award, although the French superstar surprisingly downplayed his own performance after the final.
“For once, I’ll say I robbed them,” ZywOo said, referring to teammates ropz and flameZ.
ZywOo also admitted that BLAST Rivals may have been his weakest individual tournament despite receiving the MVP medal, highlighting Vitality’s incredible depth across the roster.
With ropz continuing to deliver elite playoff performances and flameZ maintaining aggressive impact rounds, many analysts now consider Vitality the clear favorite for every upcoming tier-one CS2 tournament.
FaZe Clan Finally Show Improvement After Difficult Start to 2026
One of the biggest positive surprises of BLAST Rivals Fort Worth was FaZe Clan’s performance.
After months of inconsistency and criticism surrounding leadership changes, FaZe defeated FURIA and G2 during an impressive playoff push that gave fans renewed hope heading into the summer season.
FaZe’s victory over G2 became one of the most entertaining series of the tournament, while their dominant win against FURIA showcased a level of confidence the team had lacked for months.
Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken admitted before the playoffs that FaZe mainly wanted to secure “one or two upsets,” but the team ultimately exceeded expectations with a semifinal appearance.
Although NAVI eliminated FaZe in the semifinals, the series remained competitive — especially on Ancient, where FaZe nearly completed a massive comeback after trailing 3-9.
FaZe coach Niclas “enkay J” Krumhorn later praised the team’s mentality and specifically highlighted Twistzz’s leadership improvements.
“I’m happy for the boys because they’ve been through a lot of shit,” enkay J said after the FURIA match.
The tournament may not have ended with a trophy, but FaZe finally looked capable of competing with elite CS2 teams again.
FURIA’s Decline Becoming a Serious Concern
While FaZe exceeded expectations, FURIA left Fort Worth surrounded by growing concerns.
The Brazilian squad suffered disappointing losses to GamerLegion and FaZe, finishing only 7th-8th despite entering the event as one of the higher-ranked teams in attendance.
HLTV described FaZe’s victory over FURIA as “humiliating,” emphasizing how far the team currently looks from its dominant 2025 form.
The disappointing result becomes even more concerning considering FURIA previously won multiple trophies during the second half of 2025 and were viewed as a legitimate Major contender.
Back in late 2025, coach Sid “sidde” Macedo said the organization’s goals extended far beyond short-term success.
“What we want to achieve is a lot bigger than winning two or three tournaments.”
However, recent results suggest FURIA are rapidly losing ground against elite opposition.
What’s Next for the Top CS2 Teams?
The focus now shifts toward PGL Astana and IEM Atlanta, where several of the world’s best teams will attempt to stop Vitality’s historic run.
Right now, Vitality remain the undisputed number-one team in CS2, NAVI continue to look like their closest challenger, FaZe finally appear to be improving, and FURIA urgently need answers before their struggles become a full crisis.
If BLAST Rivals Fort Worth proved anything, it is that the gap between Vitality and the rest of the Counter-Strike scene is still enormous.
