TeSeS Praises karrigan’s Leadership After Falcons Edge FURIA in Instant Classic

Falcons’ decision to sign Finn “karrigan” Andersen is already paying off at PGL Astana 2026.

The international Counter-Strike 2 roster secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over FURIA in the quarter-finals, surviving multiple overtimes in one of the tournament’s most intense playoff matches so far. After the win, René “TeSeS” Madsen highlighted karrigan’s leadership as a major factor behind Falcons’ composure in high-pressure situations.

According to TeSeS, playing alongside the legendary in-game leader completely changes the atmosphere during close matches.

“Playing with him is such a joy in these close games because he kinda just takes you under his wing,” TeSeS said in an interview with HLTV.

The Danish rifler explained that karrigan constantly keeps the team energized during stressful moments, helping Falcons remain calm even when rounds spiral into chaos.

Falcons Beat FURIA in One of PGL Astana’s Best Matches

The Falcons vs FURIA playoff series quickly became one of the standout matches of PGL Astana 2026. Falcons dropped the opening map before fighting back to win the series after exhausting overtime battles on Nuke and Dust2.

Star AWPer Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov delivered crucial rounds throughout the series, while TeSeS and Maksim “kyousuke” Lukin stepped up in late-game situations to help Falcons close out the marathon contest.

The victory sends Falcons into the PGL Astana semi-finals and marks another strong sign that the roster is beginning to adapt to karrigan’s system.

TeSeS Continues Adapting to New Roles in Falcons

TeSeS also discussed the positional changes he has been making since karrigan joined the team. The Dane revealed that he played B on Dust2 “for the first time ever” while also switching responsibilities on Mirage.

Despite the adjustments, TeSeS believes the roster’s chemistry is improving quickly.

He explained that balancing supportive entry responsibilities with more selfish late-round decision-making remains a work in progress, but expects the team to improve with more official matches together.

Why Falcons Signed karrigan

Falcons officially signed karrigan earlier this year after moving former IGL Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski to the bench.

The organization targeted the veteran leader after several disappointing playoff exits despite building one of the most expensive rosters in Counter-Strike. Falcons previously struggled to convert deep tournament runs into championships, often losing momentum in high-pressure matches.

Nikola “NiKo” Kovač later admitted that Falcons saw very few realistic options at the in-game leader position.

“There aren’t many IGLs we would’ve taken — basically it was only karrigan or no one else,” NiKo said during PGL Astana.

Head coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen also revealed that the coaching staff wanted to fully hand control of the tactical system over to karrigan as quickly as possible.

According to zonic, Falcons’ T side structure has already become “pretty much his system.”

karrigan’s Impact Already Visible in Falcons’ Playoff Performances

One of the biggest criticisms surrounding Falcons before karrigan’s arrival was the team’s inability to consistently win close playoff matches.

Against FURIA, however, Falcons finally showed resilience in overtime situations that previously caused the roster problems at major international events.

The team now looks significantly more composed during mid-round chaos, with players repeatedly praising karrigan’s communication and emotional leadership.

TeSeS also emphasized that karrigan brings a completely different level of energy to the server, especially during decisive rounds.

Falcons Advance to PGL Astana Semi-Finals

Following the win over FURIA, Falcons advance to the PGL Astana 2026 semi-finals, where they will face tournament surprise package magic.

Despite Falcons entering the match as favorites, TeSeS warned that the team cannot underestimate any remaining opponent at the event.

“The most important for us right now is to get home, get the best rest we can, and prepare as we always do,” TeSeS said.

With karrigan, NiKo, m0NESY, and TeSeS finally building momentum together, Falcons are beginning to look like a legitimate title contender heading deeper into the tournament.
