Eternal Fire Begin Another Overhaul After Benching Three Players Amid Ongoing CS2 Struggles

Eternal Fire have once again entered a rebuilding phase in Counter-Strike 2, confirming the benching of three players as part of an internal roster restructuring following continued underwhelming results in recent months.

The Turkish organisation announced that Ömer “imoRR” Karataş, Berat “jresy” Özcan, and Baha “lugseN” Emir Şengül have all been moved to inactive status. The decision follows a period marked by early tournament exits and an inability to find consistency after multiple lineup changes throughout 2024 and early 2025.

imoRR’s benching represents another setback in his long-running association with Eternal Fire. The experienced rifler previously stepped away from competitive play before returning to the active lineup roughly nine months ago, but his comeback failed to translate into stable results. Since then, Eternal Fire have continued to rotate pieces around their core in search of a working formula.

Both jresy and lugseN have also been frequent subjects of roster movement. Over the past six months, the pair have been alternately added to and removed from the starting five, highlighting the organisation’s ongoing uncertainty around roles and long-term structure. Despite several attempts to refresh the lineup, Eternal Fire were unable to gain momentum in regional qualifiers and lower-tier international events.

As a result of the latest changes, only Buğra “Calyx” Arkın and Emrecan “EMSTAR” Çalışkan remain on the active roster, while Kadir “ElPrincipe” Sivri continues in his role as head coach. This leaves Eternal Fire with just two players registered as active while management works behind the scenes on the next phase of the rebuild.

The move comes after a turbulent period that included a significant overhaul earlier in 2025, when Eternal Fire brought in a former Sangal core in an attempt to reset the team’s direction. That project, however, did not deliver the expected turnaround, leading to further instability and now another reset.

Eternal Fire stated that a new lineup will be revealed in the coming days, suggesting additional signings or promotions are imminent. With the Turkish scene becoming increasingly competitive and qualification paths tightening, the organisation faces growing pressure to assemble a roster capable of returning to relevance both domestically and internationally.
