CS2 Inferno Update: Graveyard Removed, Balcony Extended in Latest Counter-Strike 2 Patch
Valve has released a new Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) update introducing significant layout changes to Inferno’s A bombsite, one of the most iconic locations in the game’s competitive map pool.
The update removes the Graveyard position, expands Balcony, and adjusts visibility around Pit, potentially affecting how teams defend and retake the A site.
These changes were deployed in the March 4 CS2 patch, alongside Steam Market improvements, workshop map updates, and additional scripting features for map creators.
Inferno A Site Changes in the CS2 Update
Graveyard Position Closed
The Graveyard position at Bombsite A has been completely closed off, removing a long-standing defensive spot that was commonly used during holds and post-plant situations.
Graveyard historically allowed CT players to hide behind tombstones and play anti-flash angles during retakes or site defenses. With the position now inaccessible, players will need to adapt their defensive setups around Pit, Site, and Library instead.
Balcony Extended
Valve has also extended the Balcony area overlooking Bombsite A.
The geometry update slightly modifies how players interact with Balcony and how engagements occur between Balcony, Pit, and attackers pushing from Short (Mid) or Apartments.
The change could influence utility usage and crossfire setups on the A bombsite.
Wall Above Pit Raised
Another adjustment involves raising the wall above Pit, which alters visibility between Pit and surrounding positions.
This modification impacts line-of-sight angles and may affect how players peek from Pit toward Balcony and A site.
Additional Inferno Fixes
Aside from the A site overhaul, the patch includes a clipping fix near the small window next to Second Mid Balcony, resolving a minor collision issue players had encountered.
Other Changes in the CS2 Update
Steam Community Market Improvement
One of the most notable quality-of-life changes affects the Steam Community Market.
Players can now list items on the market while still being able to use them in their inventory. However, listed items cannot be modified or consumed unless they are removed from the listing.
This feature improves flexibility for players actively trading skins while still playing the game.
Genesis Terminals and Arms Dealer Update
The update also introduces a maximum offer limit setting for Genesis Terminals and the Arms Dealer.
This allows players to filter offers and view only those within a specific price range.
Workshop Map Updates
Two workshop maps received updates in the patch:
Warden
Sanctum
These maps were upgraded to their latest versions available on the Steam Workshop.
New Map Scripting Features
Valve also added several tools for developers working with Counter-Strike 2 map scripting, including:
New OnBulletImpact event support
Functions for retrieving and setting ammo values
Angular velocity functions
Various bug fixes affecting scripting systems
These additions improve flexibility for community map creators and custom game modes.
Community Reaction to the Inferno Changes
The Inferno update quickly sparked discussion within the CS2 community.
On HLTV forums, users reacted to the removal of the Graveyard position and the impact it could have on the map's balance.
“R.I.P. in graveyard, graveyard.”
Another user suggested the change could influence retake dynamics on A site.
“Massive L, retaking on CT just got a lot easier.”
Others saw the update as an intentional rebalance of the A bombsite.
“Pretty sure that's the whole point of the update.”
While opinions remain divided, the patch clearly targets one of Inferno’s most contested areas.
How the CS2 Inferno Update Could Affect Competitive Play
Inferno has been a staple of the Counter-Strike competitive map pool for over a decade, making even small changes impactful.
With Graveyard removed and Balcony expanded, teams may need to rethink:
A-site defensive setups
Retake strategies
Utility lineups around Balcony and Pit
Crossfires between Pit, Site, and Short
As professional teams and analysts begin to test the changes, the Inferno meta in CS2 may evolve in the coming weeks.
