Counter-Strike 2 Tournament to Be Held Aboard a Brazilian Aircraft Carrier

From August 13 to 15, 2025, an unprecedented CS2 event will take place aboard the NAM Atlântico, Brazil’s active aircraft carrier, docked at Pier Mauá in Rio de Janeiro. This unique LAN tournament is part of the Rio Innovation Week and represents one of the most spectacular esports formats in recent years.

Organized by the FERJEE (Electronic Sports Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro) in collaboration with the Brazilian Navy, the event — officially titled Circuito FERJEE 2025 — will feature four top Brazilian teams: RED Canids, ODDIK, Sharks, and Imperial, who earned their spots through a closed qualifier.

The tournament will offer a prize pool of R$250,000 (approximately $46,000 USD). Broadcasts will feature legendary Brazilian CS figures — Lincoln “fnx” Lau and Fernando “fer” Alvarenga, both Major winners in 2016 — as analysts, bringing expert insight and regional star power to the spectacle.

Not the First LAN at Sea

While rare, this is not the first time a LAN event has taken place on an aircraft carrier. In October 2011, GeForce LAN 6 was held aboard the USS Hornet, a decommissioned U.S. aircraft carrier now functioning as a museum. That event showcased Battlefield 3 and cutting-edge NVIDIA hardware, blending gaming with military history.

A Symbolic Moment for CS2 Esports

Circuito FERJEE 2025 is more than just a gimmick — it’s a fully sanctioned competition with implications for participating teams’ VRS rankings, which may influence potential invitations to events like the StarLadder Budapest Major. (Invites close on October 10.)

The tournament is a showcase of innovation, aiming to highlight Brazil's growing esports scene and demonstrate that top-tier Counter-Strike can thrive in unconventional settings.

By blending history, military might, and cutting-edge competitive gaming, Circuito FERJEE 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most visually striking and ambitious esports events of the year.
