BOOMBL4 Reacts to BetBoom’s Title Run: “Not the Biggest Tournament, But Still Special”

BetBoom delivered a timely victory at the Radio Popular Roman Imperium Cup VII, boosting their chances in the race for qualification to IEM Cologne 2026. The Russian squad defeated SINNERS, G2, and BESTIA in the playoffs before closing out the grand final with a convincing 2-0 win over BESTIA.

Despite the tournament not being among the most prestigious events of the season, the result carries significant weight due to its impact on the Valve Regional Standings (VRS)—the deciding factor for Major invitations.

BOOMBL4: “It’s Been a Long Time Without Trophies”

Team captain Kirill Mikhailov emphasized the emotional importance of the win, even if the event itself was not top-tier.

“It’s not the biggest tournament in my life, but it’s still great emotions.”
“It was a long, long time with no trophies.”

The victory marks a much-needed milestone for BetBoom, who have been consistently close to success but lacked silverware in recent months.

Stand-ins and Visa Issues Make the Win More Impressive

One of the most notable aspects of BetBoom’s run was that they competed with two stand-ins instead of their full roster. Due to visa issues, d1Ledez and ArtFr0st were unavailable for several LAN events across Europe.

To compensate, BetBoom brought in FL4MUS and zorte, making their tournament victory even more remarkable under the circumstances.

Major Qualification Pressure and Tight VRS Race

With the VRS cutoff set for April 6, every result is critical. The IEM Cologne 2026, scheduled for June 11–21 in Cologne, remains one of the most competitive events in Counter-Strike.

Boombl4 revealed that the team is trying to avoid focusing too heavily on rankings:

“We try not to think about the Major and just focus on our game.”

This approach mirrors sentiments from other teams fighting for qualification.

Extreme Schedule: “Nine Flights in Two Weeks”

BetBoom’s packed schedule adds another layer of difficulty. After their win in Romania, the team immediately prepares for Stake Ranked Episode 1 in Barcelona, starting April 1.

Boombl4 highlighted the demanding travel conditions:

“We have nine flights in two weeks.”

Additionally, the team had to endure three best-of-three matches in a single day, showcasing their physical and mental resilience.

Redemption Against SINNERS After Recent Defeat

The victory also served as redemption. Just days earlier, BetBoom lost 2-0 to SINNERS in the semi-finals of the BC.Game Masters event.

Interestingly, SINNERS captain Sebastian Daňo admitted that the pressure of Major qualification affected his team:

“The pressure of thinking about the Major got to us.”

He added that SINNERS would now leave their chances “to the gods,” highlighting how unpredictable the qualification race has become.

Shared Mindset Across Teams in the Qualification Battle

A similar perspective was shared by Mădălin-Andrei Mirea, who stressed the importance of staying focused and enjoying the game rather than overthinking standings:

“We just want to play our game and enjoy it.”

This mindset reflects a broader trend among teams on the qualification bubble—balancing pressure with performance.

BetBoom’s Road Ahead

With momentum on their side, BetBoom now head into the final stretch of the VRS race. Their ability to perform under pressure, even with stand-ins, could prove decisive in securing a spot at IEM Cologne 2026.

While Boombl4 may not consider this their biggest title, its timing could make it one of the most important victories of their season.
