BIG’s Breakthrough: First Title & Final ESL Impact Champions

BIG EQUIPA claimed the championship at ESL Impact League Season 8 Finals, overcoming MIBR fe 2-1 in the grand final held at Stockholmsmässan during DreamHack Stockholm. The tournament carried a US$223,000 prize pool.

For BIG EQUIPA, it marked their first-ever ESL Impact trophy. Their road to victory was far from easy: they lost their opening match to Sakura, then advanced from group stage in second place, surviving elimination series against FlyQuest RED and Let Her Cook. In playoffs they defeated NIP Impact before reaching and winning the grand final against MIBR fe.

After the final round, captain Hania "Hanka" Pudlis shared emotional words:

“Thank you to my beautiful team, who stayed composed all the way, fighting. We never gave up. We were down 8-4, 9-3, it didn't matter. We were fighting all the way for everything, because this is our time.”

Context: The End of an Era for Women’s ESL Impact

The Season 8 Finals turned out to be the last for the women’s league, as the operator announced an indefinite hold of ESL Impact League after four years. That puts extra significance on BIG’s triumph — they go down in history as the final champions.

Over the league’s history, previous champions included Nigma Galaxy (Seasons 1–4), Imperial Valkyries (Seasons 5–6), and FURIA fe (Season 7). BIG’s victory now closes the chapter for a storied run of female Counter-Strike.

Key Match Details & Player Highlights

  • The final was played as a best-of-three, with maps being Dust2, Inferno, and Nuke.

  • BIG’s lineup — including players such as Alexandra "kyossa" Tykhonska (Ukraine), Wiktoria "vicu" Janicka (Poland), Hanka Pudlis, Emma "Emmsan" Mattsson (Sweden), and Mayline‑Joy "ASTRA" Champliaud (France) — proved resilient under pressure.

  • On the other side, MIBR fe’s roster — featuring players like Olga "Olga" Rodrigues — fell short despite prior history; Olga and teammate Gabriela "GaBi" Maldonado had lost Impact finals twice before while under FURIA fe.

What’s Next — Uncertain Future for Women's CS

With ESL Impact now “on hold,” the women’s CS:2 scene enters a period of uncertainty. Many teams and organizations will be watching closely to see how this void will be filled, and whether new structures or tournaments will emerge — but for now, BIG EQUIPA stands as the final chapter’s closing champion.
