B8 Sweep Legacy to Secure PGL Bucharest 2026 Playoff Spot
Ukrainian squad eliminates Legacy 2-0 to reach CS2 playoffs in Bucharest
B8 have officially secured a playoff berth at PGL Bucharest 2026 after defeating Legacy 2-0 in a decisive Swiss stage match. The Ukrainian side delivered a confident performance across both maps, eliminating the Brazilian team and locking in a top-eight finish at the Counter-Strike 2 event.
B8 dominate Legacy on Dust2 and Ancient
The series began on Dust2, where B8 quickly took control on the CT side. A strong defensive setup allowed them to build a 9-3 halftime lead, setting the tone for the rest of the match. Despite losing the second-half force buy after winning pistol, B8 maintained composure and closed the map 13-9.
On Ancient, the script remained largely the same. B8 once again stormed ahead with a dominant 9-3 half—this time on the T side—leaving Legacy with little room to recover. The Ukrainians comfortably sealed the map and the series, completing a clean 2-0 sweep.
npl leads B8 with standout performance
Andrii “npl” Kukharskyi played a crucial role in B8’s victory, delivering one of the strongest individual performances of the series. He recorded a 1.58 rating overall and peaked with an impressive 1.90 rating on Ancient.
Artem “kensizor” Kapran also contributed significantly, helping B8 maintain control in key rounds and convert their early leads into map wins.
B8’s road to playoffs: resilience pays off
B8’s path to the playoffs was far from easy. They opened their campaign with a win over Wildcard but suffered back-to-back losses against Astralis and 3DMAX.
Facing elimination, the team bounced back with a victory over Inner Circle before defeating Legacy in the final decider match. Their recovery highlights strong mental resilience and improving form heading into the playoffs.
Legacy exit despite strong recent form
Legacy bow out of PGL Bucharest in 9th–11th place, a disappointing finish considering their recent momentum in tier-one competition.
The Brazilian squad had previously impressed at ESL Pro League Season 23, including a notable victory over NAVI that secured them a playoff spot. Much of their success has been linked to the addition of captain Andrei “arT” Piovezan, whose leadership has reshaped the team’s structure.
However, Legacy were unable to replicate that level in Bucharest, falling short in their most important match of the tournament.
Player reactions and context
B8’s positive mindset has been a key factor in their recent progress. In a prior interview, npl emphasized the team’s long-term perspective:
“Even if we didn’t qualify, we said that it’s okay.”
On the Legacy side, saadzin previously highlighted the impact of their in-game leader:
“arT is very good, not only in the server but also out of game.”
He also stressed the team’s mentality:
“The game is more about you than about them.”
