Veteran TYLOO Star Attacker Retires from Playing and Becomes Coach

TYLOO Esports has announced a major personnel change as long-time CS2 competitor YuanZhang “Attacker” Sheng officially ends his active playing career and transitions into a coaching role with the organization. The decision marks a new chapter for one of China’s most recognizable Counter-Strike players, as he moves off TYLOO’s starting roster and begins contributing strategically from the sidelines.

According to TYLOO’s statement, this move follows an organizational evaluation of Attacker’s strengths — highlighting his deep tactical insight, game knowledge, and familiarity with the team system. The club expressed confidence that he can help develop and guide TYLOO’s roster in a coaching capacity, particularly as they prepare for the 2026 competitive season

Attacker: From Rising Talent to Veteran Leader

Attacker’s CS career spans more than a decade. He first appeared in a TYLOO jersey in 2014, leaving briefly in 2015 before making a significant impact in 2016 when TYLOO reached the quarter-finals of DreamHack Masters Malmö — one of the organization’s most notable international achievements of that era.

Over the years, Attacker’s tenure has included several returns to TYLOO following short stints elsewhere, including a period with the Chinese team Flash in 2017. He also experienced multiple roster moves within TYLOO: being benched and reinstated at different points — a testament to both his longevity and role in the squad’s evolving competitive strategies.

Attacker’s career culminated in a highlight earlier in 2025, where he helped TYLOO capture the FISSURE Playground 1 title, the team’s first international trophy in over half a decade.

A New Role on the Coaching Staff

With his retirement from active competition, Attacker will join TYLOO’s coaching staff as an assistant coach, working alongside head coach WeiJie “zhokiNg” Zhong. This reshuffle leaves a vacancy in TYLOO’s five-man starting lineup ahead of the New Year, meaning the organization will need to add at least one new player for the 2026 season.

TYLOO’s current active roster following the move is:

  • Yi “JamYoung” Yang

  • Qianhao “Moseyuh” Chen

  • Dongkai “Jee” Ji

  • Jingxiang “Mercury” Wang

  • (vacant slot)

  • WeiJie “zhokiNg” Zhong (coach)

  • YuanZhang “Attacker” Sheng (assistant coach)

Context: TYLOO’s Recent Competitive Arc

TYLOO — one of the most historic Chinese esports organizations, active since 2007 — has long been a pillar of the Asian Counter-Strike scene. Known for pioneering Chinese teams on the global map, TYLOO has regularly qualified for Majors and international events, including the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025

Indeed, TYLOO finished 22nd at the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025, competing against the world’s top teams. Although they exited prior to playoffs, the appearance reaffirmed TYLOO’s place on the global stage and underscored progress made with their roster.

Earlier in the year, TYLOO also secured a spot at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, marking China’s return to Major play after a prolonged absence.

In addition to competitive achievements, the organization has frequently adjusted its roster over recent seasons, alternating between primarily Chinese lineups and international cores, aiming to find the right balance to excel regionally and globally.

Why Attacker’s Transition Matters

Attacker’s retirement is notable not just because of his long association with TYLOO, but because it symbolizes a shift in the direction of Chinese Counter-Strike development. Players with extensive experience are increasingly stepping into coaching and strategic roles, helping new generations navigate the complexities of top-tier CS2 competition.

This mirrors a broader trend where legendary players worldwide transition to coaching — bringing firsthand knowledge of tournament pressure, map nuances, and team dynamics — fostering deeper tactical understanding within their squads. Attacker’s appointment could similarly empower TYLOO’s roster to evolve as they compete against entrenched international opponents.

In summary: TYLOO’s YuanZhang “Attacker” Sheng has retired from competitive play and transitioned into coaching with the organization. His lengthy career, marked by multiple tenures with TYLOO and capped with an international title in 2025, now paves the way for a new leadership role helping shape the future of the team. TYLOO will look to fill his spot in the active roster ahead of the 2026 season as they continue their mission to elevate Chinese Counter-Strike on the world stage.
