Astralis Edge Past EYEBALLERS to Reach PGL Bucharest 2026 Semi-Finals

Astralis secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over EYEBALLERS to advance to the semi-finals of PGL Bucharest 2026, maintaining their unbeaten streak at the Romanian event. The Danish side, who had previously cruised through the Swiss stage with a flawless 3–0 record, were pushed to their limits in the quarter-final but ultimately prevailed thanks to a dominant performance on the deciding map.

The series began on Mirage, where EYEBALLERS struck first. The Swedish squad looked composed and confident, capitalizing on early momentum and consistently outmaneuvering Astralis. Their solid defensive setups and key individual plays allowed them to secure a 13–8 win, putting Astralis on the back foot early in the match.

Facing elimination, Astralis responded on their map pick, Ancient. However, the map did not start in their favor, as EYEBALLERS once again showed resilience and built a lead. The Danes were forced to mount a comeback, gradually regaining control through improved coordination and mid-round decision-making. After a tightly contested battle that extended into overtime, Astralis edged out a 16–14 victory to level the series and force a decider.

The final map, Inferno, turned into a one-sided affair. Astralis delivered a commanding performance, completely shutting down EYEBALLERS and leaving no room for a comeback. The Danish team dominated both sides of the map, racing to a convincing 13–2 win to seal the series.

Individually, Victor “Staehr” Staehr stood out as one of the key performers in the series, delivering a high-impact showing and finishing with one of the best ratings on the server. His consistency and ability to influence crucial rounds played a significant role in Astralis’ comeback and eventual victory.

With this result, Astralis advanced to the semi-finals, where they were set to face 3DMAX. The win also extended their strong run at the event, reinforcing their status as one of the top contenders for the title. Meanwhile, EYEBALLERS exited the tournament in the 5th–8th place range after a commendable campaign, having challenged a higher-ranked opponent in a competitive series.

Looking at the broader context of PGL Bucharest 2026, the event featured 16 teams competing for a $625,000 prize pool, with several emerging storylines shaping the tournament. Astralis’ progression continued beyond this match, as they later defeated 3DMAX to reach the grand final, confirming their strong form throughout the event.

On the other side of the bracket, teams like FUT Esports and The MongolZ were also making deep runs, highlighting the competitive nature of the tournament. FUT Esports eventually emerged as one of the standout teams, showcasing consistent performances en route to the later stages.

Overall, Astralis’ victory over EYEBALLERS demonstrated both their resilience and their ability to adapt under pressure. Despite a shaky start and a challenging second map, the team showed composure in critical moments and delivered a decisive performance when it mattered most. Their dominant showing on Inferno ultimately underlined the gap in experience and execution between the two teams, securing Astralis a well-earned place in the semi-finals.
