CS2 Sees ~6% FPS Increase When Shooting After Recent Patch

According to a data miner known as Thour, a recent update to Counter‑Strike 2 has raised the frame rate (FPS) by about 6% specifically during weapon fire.

Thour’s testing was done on the Mirage map, firing from close range. However, he notes that the actual improvement may vary depending on the user's PC configuration.

What Changed

The update, released overnight on 9 September 2025, with a size of about 446.4 MB via Steam, included fixes to animations, performance improvements, and a bug correction.

One known bug, reported earlier by a streamer called PSP1G, was removed, especially on FACEIT servers.

From the Players’ Perspective

While there are not many direct quotes relating specifically to the FPS improvement “when shooting”, there is critical feedback on the game’s performance more generally:

  • The player Nikola "NiKo" Kovač commented during a livestream that although he sees improvements, CS2 is still lagging behind CS:GO in terms of responsiveness and polish. He said:

“If CS:GO had never existed, CS2 would be a good game. But the problem is CS:GO was so much better and more responsive, that now it seems absurd to see a game worse and with a bunch of bugs. Situation has gotten better, but not by much… there are still many bugs, many things… I don’t know, you die behind walls.”

This indicates that while technical improvements like raised FPS are welcomed, many players still feel a gap in overall gameplay smoothness and bug fixing.
